Breeding Policies

At Basset Country Breeders, we strive to raise high-quality basset hound puppies. We are neither a commerical breeder nor a puppy mill. We sell to individuals and families who are looking for a quality pet or companion to enrich their lives.

We make a point of matching male and female breeding partners to complement one another's good qualities (e.g., good temperament, big ears, large feet, and so on).

Puppy Placement Policies

Although we have no specific pre-requisites for our prospective clients, we do request that every potential new owner take the time to research the breed and determine if a basset hound is a good fit for them and their family.

That said, we do reserve the right to refuse to sell to anyone at our discretion.

Stud Service Policies

We offer a stud service for a non-refundable fee of $250.00, which is due before breeding takes place. If the bitch does not become pregnant on her initial visit, however, then she is welcome to re-visit us during her next cycle at no additional cost.

All bitches must have their vaccinations up-to-date, and they must have tags or documentation from their veterinarian for verification.

We can supply food for your dog during her stay at an additional cost, but if you prefer to provide your own, then we recommend you bring enough for a two-week stay.
